This was originally a triumphal column completed in AD 113, commemorating Roman emperor Trajan's victory in the Dacian Wars. The statue of Trajan disappeared in the Middle Ages and in 1587 a bronze statue of St. Peter was added.

Photography has been a passion of mine for over 45 years and I look forward to making photos for the next 45. I hope that you like my photos; I am okay with it if you dislike them; I just hope I never bore you. I haven't deliberately developed a certain style as I like most styles and genres of photography. I will admit a preference for black and white images as I find them more expressive but not to the exclusion of color images. I creatively edit my images to convey to the viewer the spirit of what I saw and felt about the scene rather than trying to document the scene journalistically.
