Artist's Description

During the oil boom of the early 1900's the population of this small town was over 20,000 but now is at 155. The oil fields are still producing energy but now it is in the form of wind generated electricity. This old church has been remains as a sad reminder of the towns "glory days".

About Mike Schaffner

Mike Schaffner

Photography has been a passion of mine for over 45 years and I look forward to making photos for the next 45. I hope that you like my photos; I am okay with it if you dislike them; I just hope I never bore you. I haven't deliberately developed a certain style as I like most styles and genres of photography. I will admit a preference for black and white images as I find them more expressive but not to the exclusion of color images. I creatively edit my images to convey to the viewer the spirit of what I saw and felt about the scene rather than trying to document the scene journalistically. All of the images were made and processed by me. All are copyrighted, all rights reserved.
